Two new buildings in Student City/ Rama: Category A in the EU, we remain faithful to the commitments made!
The Prime Minister of the country, Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, participated today in the inauguration of buildings 16 and 17 of the dormitories in the Student City, which now have modern conditions, from student rooms, reading rooms, free internet, etc.
The Prime Minister praised that the buildings inaugurated today are equipped with bedrooms with separate showers and toilets, reading rooms, cooking and dining areas on each floor, free internet, a security system, and laundry.
While thanking the delegation of the European Union and the German Development Bank KfW, he emphasized that we are preparing for the implementation of projects for a series of new administrative, socio-cultural and sports buildings.
"I turn back time a little and I want to remind you that even though the student protest, the very large student protest of a few years ago, has long since ended, and perhaps has been forgotten by many, we continue to work by remaining faithful to all the commitments made and to do everything we promised, point by point and comma by comma," Rama said.
The head of government said that this is a city that is fundamentally a legacy of the past, but it is also a city that must serve the future and must offer optimal conditions, the same as the best conditions in EU countries.
"This dormitory is a dormitory that in any EU country would stand with dignity in category A. There are dormitorys in Paris, London, and elsewhere that have 4 people in a room. Of course, there are also dormitories with 2 people in a room like here. There are dormitories even in developed countries where showers are shared. Here, each room has its own shower," he said.
This, according to him, is an ambition to create things that will last for a long period of time, with the opportunities that increase every year thanks to economic growth and income.
