Are there enough notaries in Albania? - Sadushi: Their competencies should be increased for less cost and time
In the notary system, 410 notaries are currently on duty. But the predispositions are that this number will increase. With the changes of six years ago, innovations were reflected which have recently been noticed with problems.
The President of the National Chamber of Notaries, Mimoza Sadushi, told Scan TV that these changes were necessary for the situation of notaries.
"The number of Notaries is greater in large cities such as Tirana, Durrës, Vlora and is smaller in smaller cities. This balancing has come as a result of the number of the population but also looking at the geographical positions, the volume of work."
But should we add or remove some powers from notaries?
"At least we find that citizens feel good when they come to notary offices because they receive many services. We cannot talk about a monopoly of work, but we can talk about providing a service with quality and speed. For example, until 2013, evidence of inheritances was done in courts. They would go through several sessions, but even if they went through one session, the citizen would have to wait until the date was set, so he had to spend a long time in addition to financial expenses. Returning these decisions to the notary brought the element of time to the citizen."
According to the Chamber's request, the ratio that determines the total number of notaries is changed to 1 notary for every 7,000 residents, from 1 for 15,000 residents.
