1660 envelopes with diaspora votes counted - Narrow difference between PD-ASHM

By the early hours of the morning, 1,660 envelopes containing diaspora votes had been counted out of a total of 194,889 envelopes to be counted.

In terms of votes cast by the diaspora, the Democratic Party-Alliance for a Greater Albania (DP-ASHM) Coalition currently leads with 726 votes, followed by the Socialist Party (SP) with 705 votes. In third place is the Albania Initiative Coalition with 117 votes.

Meanwhile, the Opportunity Party and the Social Democratic Party are estimated to have received only 35 and 34 votes from the diaspora respectively. The Together Movement is another political force that has received only 21 votes from the diaspora, the Albanian National Alliance Party (AKSH) has received 10 and the Euro-Atlantic Coalition Party only 4 votes.

In other words, the Democratic Party – Alliance for a Greater Albania Coalition leads with 43.95% of the votes and the Socialist Party with 42.68% of the votes. The Homeland Movement, the New Democracy Alliance Party, and the Right Coalition for Development have not received any votes from the diaspora.

According to data from the Central Election Commission, 8 votes were invalid.

However, if we count it together with the votes within the country, the Socialist Party results in the largest number of votes.

Due to a holiday, the count was interrupted for several hours and resumed at 10:30.

Yesterday, the first diaspora ballot boxes to be opened were from the Korça Region. The counting of diaspora votes began a little later than the counting of votes within the country, although it was announced that the counting would begin immediately after the first ballot box with votes cast within Albania was opened.

In the evening, there were some disputes from Democratic Party observers about the vote counting process by Socialist Party counters. The Democratic Party requested the Central Election Commission to put the votes of the Albanian diaspora from Greece in a separate box and not to be counted together with the other votes. This request was approved by the CEC at midnight. As a result, the votes from Greece have been set aside and will be counted separately.

Yesterday, 3 planes arrived, bringing the last votes from the diaspora before 7:00 p.m. Around 10,000 votes arrived in the morning and afternoon, while the last DHL shipment had only 80 votes.
