Rare diamond "lights up" Geneva - "Glowing Rose" could sell at auction for $20 million

Sotheby's is preparing to present the "Glowing Rose" in Geneva, a 10.08-carat pink diamond that is expected to fetch up to $20 million at auction. The stone is one of only three diamonds of this cut and over 10 carats to come to market in the past 10 years.
The diamond takes its name from its pure and exceptionally bright pink color, a very rare phenomenon, as most diamonds of this color exhibit secondary hues. The “Glowing Rose” will headline Sotheby’s Heavy Jewelry Auction on November 12 in Geneva.
The stone was cut from a 21-carat rough diamond mined in Angola in 2023 and is certified under the Kimberley Process, which guarantees ethical and transparent trade.
Also up for auction is a Rolex Oyster wristwatch worn by British swimmer Mercedes Gleitze during her historic 1927 swim, with an estimate of over $1.3 million. This rare 9-carat yellow gold watch, created before Rolex patented the water-resistant crown, marks a turning point in the history of watches and brand sponsorship. It is only the second time in a century that this watch has appeared at auction.
Adding to the historical magic of the auction, Sotheby's will also be offering a decorative old-style diamond pendant that once belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte. The jewel, valued at up to $250,000, was seized by the Prussian army as the French emperor retreated from the Battle of Waterloo and will be appearing at auction for the first time. The object is accompanied by a green beryl stone, which according to tradition was worn by Napoleon at his coronation in 1804.
