Tirana among the most congested traffic in Europe/ We rank 49th, Moscow and London lead

Traffic has become one of the main problems facing cities today, especially those with high population, those that host large numbers of tourists, and cities with numerous economic and cultural activities. The Traffic Index takes into account factors such as commuting time, dissatisfaction with time spent in traffic, CO₂ emissions, and the overall inefficiency of the transportation system. This index provides a clear picture of the traffic situation in a city. But which city is rated as having the highest traffic in Europe and how does our country rank?
Tirana ranks 49th out of 129 European cities considered, with 123 points on the index and about 39 minutes of waiting time in traffic, which is the average time to travel from one place to another within the city in traffic. This places Albania among the countries with significant traffic in Europe. These data also come as a result of the high motorization of the country, as the number of cars has increased significantly, and Tirana has a large population that has increased at a rapid pace. If we compare our country with the region, it turns out that we are ranked second, as Serbia, specifically Belgrade, has a higher index, with 136.9 points and a waiting time of about 37 minutes.
The situation is much better in Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia, where the traffic index results in 97.2 points in Skopje and 94.7 points in Sarajevo, respectively, while the average waiting time in traffic for both cities is approximately 30 minutes.
But which countries have the most congested traffic and the most problematic road conditions?
According to the Numbeo Index, Krasnodar and Moscow in Russia are the cities with the most congested traffic in Europe. Then come Naples and Romania (the respective cities), which are also listed on the list of areas with dense and problematic traffic. London is also positioned among the top 10 cities for high traffic levels.
On the other hand, places with fewer traffic queues and a more efficient road traffic system are Vienna, Banja Luka, Split and Tartu, one of the main cities in Estonia.
