Kosovo-Albania, who visits whom more? March figures, Kosovo Albanians dominate tourism between the two countries

Not only during the summer and long weekends, but Kosovo Albanians are continuing to keep tourism in Albania alive throughout the year, while March confirmed once again that they remain among the most loyal visitors to the Albanian market.
Data published by INSTAT on accommodation structures show that during March of this year, thousands of citizens from Kosovo have chosen Albania for holidays, short trips, family meetings or weekends away from routine. 108 thousand 391 foreign visitors were registered in hotels and accommodation structures in the country, while 12% of them were from Kosovo. This means that around 13 thousand Kosovars spent at least one night in Albania during the month of March alone.
Kosovo is the second country with the largest number of tourists in Albania, right after Italy, leaving behind much larger European markets such as Germany, France or Great Britain.
The high influx of Kosovo Albanians is no longer seen only in the hot summer months. Visits have now become a permanent movement throughout the year, especially towards Tirana, Durrës, Shëngjin and the south of the country.
Meanwhile, movement in the other direction remains significantly lower. According to statistics published by Kosovo, during March only 7 thousand 477 Albanians were accommodated in hotels in Kosovo. Although the number has marked a slight increase compared to a year ago, the difference remains large, citizens from Kosovo visiting Albania are almost twice as many as Albanians traveling to Kosovo.
In total, Kosovo registered 27,469 foreign visitors during March, with Albanians making up the largest group.
The figures clearly show that tourism between the two countries is no longer just seasonal. But if Albania continues to be the first choice for Kosovars, Albanians are still not returning their interest in visiting Kosovo at the same pace.
