When and with what do Albanians travel the most? August and December lead. Prefer private car for travel

More Albanians have chosen to vacation abroad in recent years, while the destinations within the country are not left behind. The coast during the summer and Korça in the winter are the most preferred destinations.

Meanwhile, among the most favorite countries abroad are Greece, Italy, Spain, England, Turkey, Kosovo, Germany and Montenegro.

But in which month do Albanians travel the most?

According to the latest INSTAT survey on tourism, the highest percentages of trips in 2023 were recorded in the month of August with 14.9%, in July with 11.5%, in June with 10.4% and during the end-of-year holidays with 11.9%. Based on the figures, we see that the trips by Albanians in the month of December also exceed the two summer months, i.e. June and July.

The average number of nights of stay for completed trips is 4.14 nights. If we analyze in more detail the duration of trips according to the purpose in Albania and abroad, we notice that the trips for "Vacation and free time" have a short duration, both inside and outside the country. Meanwhile, on the other hand, trips for "Visit to relatives and friends" have a short duration within the country and a long duration abroad. Also, trips for business purposes have a short duration, in Albania and a long one abroad.

But what is the mode of transport by which Albanians travel?

About 3.88 million trips were made via road transport, which account for 88.1% of all trips made in 2023. The highest growth was recorded in road transport with 1.8 percentage points. The most preferred is private car transport, while air transport accounts for 10.6%, while water transport is around 1.2%.
