Tourist areas, investments in the Çuka electricity network - OSSH opens

The Regional Directorate of OSSH Gjirokastër has opened the tender for the development of the 20 kV medium voltage network, electrical cabins in the Çukë area, Saranda and the construction of new cabins in feeders 3, 6, Saranda city. The estimated limit fund is 129 million and 633 thousand lekë.

According to the document published in the Public Procurement Agency, this project foresees the design and construction of a new 20 kV medium voltage distribution network in the Çuka area, which is supplied with electricity from the 110/20 kV Saranda substation. Furthermore, this project foresees the construction of 6 new Box type cabins; the installation of a low voltage network with self-supporting cables from the 110/20 kV Saranda substation, as well as the modernization of the existing infrastructure to meet the growing demand for electricity. This feeder will cover the Çuka area, a rapidly developing tourist area, guaranteeing an uninterrupted and stable supply of electricity.

The Çuka area is part of the Municipality of Saranda. It is one of the most frequented areas during the tourist season and, recently, is experiencing intensive urban and construction development. These factors have contributed to the significant increase in demand for electricity, exceeding the current capacities of the distribution network. For this reason, it is necessary to intervene with the reconstruction and increase of the capacities of the electrical infrastructure, in order to guarantee a quality service for existing consumers and to meet the expected long-term demands of the area.

This project is in line with the strategy for the development and improvement of electrical networks undertaken by the OSSH company, which aims, among other things, to normalize loads on medium (MV) and low (LV) voltage lines.
