Vineyards, how many grapes were produced by farmers? - Kaçorri: Orientation towards quality and indigenous varieties
The areas cultivated with vineyards throughout Albania have managed to produce a production of 183 thousand tons of grapes throughout 2024.
INSTAT figures show that production has a slight increase of 3 tons compared to 2024 but with a decrease compared to previous years. The planted area reaches 9845 hectares, with a progressive decrease from year to year.
But what are the reasons?
On the other hand, Kaçorri explains that since wineries are prioritizing quality, exports have expanded significantly and "Made in Albania" production is more present on the shelves of world markets.
According to official INSTAT figures, the region with the highest grape production is Fier with approximately 39.2 thousand tons, followed by Elbasan, Tirana, Vlora and Durrës. While the region with the lowest production is Kukës with 4,800 tons.
