Elected Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari "returns home"

Newly elected Minister of the Interior, Besfort Lamallari is the most familiar with the new task he is taking on. This is due to the fact that Lamallari has served as Deputy Minister of the Interior since October 9, 2017, until a few months ago he took the post of Minister of Justice. Lamallari was born on July 18, 1987, in Peshkopi, Dibër. He completed his university studies in Law at the University of Tirana in 2009. In 2013, he graduated from the University of Oxford in the Master of Science program in Criminology and Criminal Justice. He previously attended postgraduate studies in Italy LL.M “International Cooperation against Transnational Organized Crime”. He was trained by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), as well as the Academy of Political Studies – Council of Europe Program. Mr. Lamallari comes from an intensive scientific research experience, from which his role as an independent researcher and author of a number of studies in the field of organized crime, radicalism and terrorism stands out. At the same time, he has worked as an external consultant for international organizations, including the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the EU IPA 2010 Project for “Human Resources Development”, etc. During his service as Deputy Minister of Interior, he has represented the institution in meetings and communications with UNODC, Europol, the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), FRONTEX and the European Police College (CEPOL).
He speaks English fluently and knows French and Italian.
