Trade dominates new businesses - Over 15 thousand enterprises were registered in 4 months

Retail and wholesale trade appears to be becoming the dominant sector of the Albanian economy in terms of new business openings. Stores, service activities, and enterprises related to retail and wholesale continue to account for the majority of registrations in the country, reflecting the market's orientation towards consumption and services.
In the first four months of this year, the National Business Center has registered a total of 15,970 new businesses in Albania. According to the data, retail and wholesale trade remains the sector with the highest “experiments”, both in opening and closing activities. Such a movement indicates strong competition in the market, but also the tendency of many entrepreneurs to invest in activities with faster market entry and lower operating costs.
Meanwhile, among the sectors most affected by new registrations is the repair of vehicles and motorcycles, with over 1,000 new businesses opened during this period. The accommodation and food service sector has also recorded significant growth, with over 1,100 new businesses, driven mainly by tourism and the expansion of activity in urban and coastal areas.
Likewise, professional, scientific and technical activities register around 390 new businesses, reflecting the increased demand for specialized services and professions related to technology, consultancy and professional expertise.
According to NCC data, construction, transportation, and professional services remain among the sectors with the highest registration activity, indicating that investments continue to be oriented towards infrastructure, logistics, and sectors related to economic development.
