"The financial system should prepare for European integration" - Sejko: We do not only study the past, but also the future
The 5th Bank of Albania Museum Conference was held, bringing together historians, museologists, researchers and economists to discuss the journey of the economy, identity and financial institutional development of Albania and the region.
In his opening remarks, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, stated that this conference does not only study the past, but also aims to pose the right questions for the future. According to him, the financial system must be prepared to benefit from the opportunities that will be offered by membership in the large European family.
"Albania's path towards integration into the European Union has been a central pillar of institutional and economic reforms. The Bank of Albania plays a crucial role in this process, aligning its policies and practices with European standards with the aim of strengthening the sustainability, transparency and resilience necessary for membership. Looking to the future, our commitment remains unwavering: to strengthen institutional readiness, deepen regional cooperation and ensure that Albania's financial system is prepared to face the challenges and benefit from the opportunities of an integrated European future", said Sejko.
Governor Sejko emphasized, among other things, that Albania, like many other countries in the world, is facing new opportunities related to the development of artificial intelligence and financial innovation.
“These new challenges or opportunities, such as digital currencies, climate risks, artificial intelligence and financial innovation, are transforming the global financial landscape. Albania is no exception. The coming decades will require agility, foresight and close cooperation with European and international partners. We must continue to strengthen our institutional capacity, not only to fulfill our core mandate, but also to support the stability and well-being of Albanian citizens ”, the Governor underlined.
During this conference, organized within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the Bank of Albania, the research works of a number of Albanian and foreign researchers were presented.
