Albanians remain "connected" to social networks/ Platforms restore growth and continue to dominate online communication

Social networks continue to play an important role in the daily lives of Albanians, being used for communication, entertainment, information and increasingly for economic activity. According to the latest data from DataReportal, at the end of 2025 Albania registered around 1.35 million social media user identities.
Data shows that the number of social platform users has changed significantly between October 2023 and October 2025. At the end of 2023, Albania had around 1.25 million users, while just a few months later, in January 2024, the figure increased significantly, reaching 1.53 million, an increase of 23% compared to the previous period.
This rapid growth reflects the expansion of social media usage and the impact that smartphones and accessible internet have had on citizens' online behavior. However, after peaking in early 2024, the number of users began to gradually decline.
In April 2024, around 1.51 million users were registered, while in July the number dropped to 1.43 million. In October of the same year, active users identified on social platforms fell to around 1.37 million.
The beginning of 2025 brought a slight improvement in the situation, with an increase to 1.41 million users in January, but then the trend turned downward again. In April 2025, the number was around 1.38 million, while in July it decreased to 1.30 million users, marking one of the lowest levels of the analyzed period.
However, data from October 2025 shows a return of Albanian interest in social media. The number increased to 1.35 million users, or about 3.8% more compared to the previous quarter.
This movement shows that, despite ongoing changes in digital behavior, social networks remain an inseparable part of everyday life. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and others have become key tools not only for personal communication, but also for marketing, business promotion and content creation.
Another important element is that the reported figures represent user identities and not necessarily unique persons, as an individual may have more than one account on different platforms.
