An example to follow, Deputy Prime Minister Koçiu: Turkey, the model of how tourism becomes an engine of development

We often visit neighboring countries and are amazed by the quality of service, the strength of the tourism industry and their economic transformation through tourism. Turkey is one of these most significant examples. This model is present today in every Mediterranean country: in Montenegro, Croatia or Greece, and in every other country that has tourism as the engine of economic development.
Some, inside and outside the borders, demand that Albania abandon this competition at the very moment when we have a real opportunity to compete with dignity and, why not, win it.
It is a sad paradox that we constantly demand standards in tourism and economic benefits from it, but at the same time we strongly hold onto a mentality that sees foreign investment as an invasion.
Sustainable development is not an act of abuse of territory, nor a lack of standards or destruction of the ecosystem, as is usually attempted to be presented in our public debate, and as has unfortunately happened during these years of transition. On the contrary, true development is the ability to harmonize nature with modern infrastructure, to generate well-being without compromising the future. It is the ability to transform dormant potential into powerful economic engines that serve every Albanian.
The €4 billion investment in Zvërnec is not a closed or isolated project, but an opportunity that will create jobs, grow the economy, improve tourism standards and stimulate other chain investments throughout the country. This is the multiplier effect that Albania needs in order to break out of the cycle of chaotic tourism, without a strategy and without a plan.
Therefore, this is not a competition of a government, nor of a party or of a group of investors. This is Albania's competition towards being crowned as the undisputed champion of tourism in the Mediterranean.
Above all, this is a race for the future of children and generations to come.
