Increasing skills in solar panel installation - Vasili: Vocational schools have increased interest in "green" skills
As the labor market needs employees specialized in the field of renewable energies, vocational education and training schools have increased interest in programs that focus on Green Transition issues.
Renato Vasili, from the Regional Challenge Fund, says that many of the applications submitted for financial support by the Fund focus on increasing skills in the installation of solar panels, energy efficiency, etc.
"We have also noticed in the applications we receive that there is a growing trend and awareness of all issues related to the Green Transition. In many programs we see it in two aspects: there are components of "green" skills, which are introduced not only in programs for energy, but also in other programs, just as there are also programs dedicated to solar panel installers or even energy efficiency experts", - says Vasili.
The Regional Challenge Fund is a financing structure designed to increase youth employment and boost the competitiveness of enterprises in the 6 Western Balkan countries, through financing Vocational Education and Training providers that address skills needs in cooperation with companies.
Grants are awarded through an open call mechanism and from the first 3 calls, 21 winning projects have currently been announced, worth 10.5 million euros. The Regional Challenge Fund is financed by the German and Swiss governments.
