The price of diesel increases by over 7 lek! - From 182 lek/liter to 189

The conflict in the Middle East is rapidly affecting the Albanian market. This Friday, the price of oil has increased again. In most gas stations it is sold at the price of 182 lek/liter.

However, there are also some gas stations with higher prices, going up to 185 to 189 lek per liter.

Market operators link the price fluctuations to developments in international energy markets, where crude oil prices have increased due to geopolitical tensions and supply uncertainties. The Hydrocarbons Association has warned for several days of a maximum price increase of up to 40 lek, while the Competition Authority has started monitoring the fuel market, placing under surveillance all companies that carry out activities in the wholesale and retail trade of gasoline and diesel. The main attention of this process will be focused on the performance of prices at retail points of sale,

Albania is a country dependent on hydrocarbon imports, so any change in global markets is reflected relatively quickly in the final price paid by consumers.

However, oil is the first link in the consumption chain. Any increase in its price translates into higher transportation and production costs, putting upward pressure on prices for other everyday consumer products.
