Formalization in the labor market increases - In 7 months, over 1,300 informal

The action against informality in the workplace, as one of the priorities of the Albanian government, seems to have borne first fruits. The risk-based planning of inspections by the State Inspectorate of Labor and Social Services has brought significant improvements, identifying an increase in informal workers during inspection processes.

According to data so far, for the 7-month period from January to July of this year, 1,316 informal workers were included in the scheme through the urgent measure "Suspension of Activity", who during this period worked informally, and thus contributed directly to the social and health insurance scheme.

Meanwhile, the declaration of employees in the aforementioned period, the contribution they made to the social and health insurance scheme, has reached a minimum value of 14,686,560 Lekë/month after declaration in the budget.

Among other things, the State Labor Inspectorate, during the month of July, has intensified inspections in entities, achieving controls in 926 entities throughout the country, with a main focus on compliance with the law on labor relations, safety conditions and employee registration.

Over 20,000 workplaces have also been inspected and in 643 cases administrative measures have been taken, including fines, temporary suspensions of activity, or obligations for urgent improvements in the workplace.

The Inspectorate announces that controls will continue with high intensity in the coming months, in the context of the tourist season and the commitment to formalizing the labor market, a challenge that remains current for the Albanian economy.
