Around 99 thousand new cars registered in 2025/ DPSHTRR: Increased demand for safer and more efficient vehicles

The domestic vehicle market is experiencing significant growth, reflecting the gradual modernization of the road fleet.
The latest data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services shows that during 2025, 98,927 vehicles were registered for the first time, a figure that represents an increase of 27% compared to 2023. This growing trend testifies to an increasingly high demand for newer, more efficient and safer vehicles.
The main weight in this increase is held by cars, which account for a dominant percentage of registrations. A total of 80,739 cars were registered for the first time this year, constituting 81.6% of the total registered vehicles. This shows the increase in the use of personal vehicles, but also the need for faster and more comfortable mobility.
Also, policies for fleet updating and road safety awareness have influenced the orientation of citizens towards newer and safer vehicles.
The compulsory motor insurance market has also continued its positive trend. During the period January-September 2025, a steady increase was reflected in both the value of gross written premiums and the number of insurance contracts.
Meanwhile, the 2025 figures confirm that the Albanian vehicle market is moving on a positive trajectory, reflecting the pace of modernization in the country. A trend that, if accompanied by sustainable policies, is expected to continue in the coming years.
