IBAR Report on Albania passes technical phase - Expected to be approved tomorrow

The Working Group on Enlargement in the European Union, COELA, has given the green light to the Interim Assessment Report (IBAR) on Albania's progress in the European integration process.

According to media reports, the 27 member states of the European Union have agreed on a joint draft, which is expected to be officially approved tomorrow at the meeting of ambassadors of EU member states, COREPER.

The joint draft was reached after nearly three months of discussions and negotiations between the European Council and the European Commission, the latter having previously given a positive assessment of Albania.

After approval in COREPER, the next step will be the Albania-EU Intergovernmental Conference, which will be held on May 26. At this conference, Albania will be represented by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

This development is considered one of the most important phases of the accession negotiations, as it paves the way for Albania's further advancement in the process of closing chapters with the European Union.
