The government asks oil companies: Be careful with reserves/ Ibrahimaj: We are

Economy Minister Delina Ibrahimaj does not rule out the possibility of reducing oil taxes, and more specifically excise taxes, to reduce the final price. While speaking about the situation created in the fuel market as a result of the Middle East crisis, she said that currently attention is focused on monitoring abuses by fuel wholesale and retail companies, but depending on the course of the crisis, further measures may be taken.

Meanwhile, Ibrahimaj confirmed that companies have created a strategic reserve according to the legislation in force.

The price is determined by taking as a reference the oil prices on the international Platts exchange, to which are added the costs of transportation, taxes and profit margins for wholesale and retail trading companies. Currently, for one liter of oil, citizens pay about 27 lek in circulation tax, about 40 lek in excise duty, 3 lek in carbon tax, as well as several other fees such as relicensing tax, branding concession and fuel scanning. In total, from these taxes alone, the price of one liter of fuel includes about 80 lek. When this price is added to 20% Value Added Tax. Meanwhile, asked by TV SCAN about the prices of basket products, which may be affected by the increase in fuel prices, the minister said that in this regard too the market is being monitored, although it is demand and supply that dictates prices.
