Works on the road "Kthesa e Bërdica - Ura e Bahçallëkut", Karakaçi: Asphalting to be completed by May 7

Works on the road segment "Bërdica Turn - Bahçallëkut Bridge", Shkodër, a very important axis for both the northern capital and the connection with Montenegro, are progressing at a rapid pace. The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, has inspected the construction site.
"Today we are at the most important segment regarding the entrance to Shkodra, which starts from the Berdica Arch, to the Bahçallëkut Bridge. This is an important segment because it connects the entrance with the northern capital, Shkodra, but also connects the city with the part of both borders of Montenegro. Here we are expanding and increasing the category to category D of this road and we are also building a parallel bridge that creates space for traffic circulation from both sides. It is a busy axis in fact, but we have had very good progress in the works," said Karakaci.
Meanwhile, Ami Kozeli, Director of ARRSH, said: "We are currently carrying out about 65-66 percent of the physical works, we are a category D road, an urban, primary road, we have completed the expansion. The works also include the expansion of the sidewalk, which is at least 1.5 m on both sides, two 3/5 m lanes and an asphalted shoulder on the left side for each direction of movement. During the continuous works and hearings that the Shkodra Municipality has carried out, the need arose to add a roundabout."
Minister Karakaçi emphasized that the project has been revised and a third roundabout has been added near the Bahçalëk bridge, in order to create access to several neighborhoods of the city. Karakaçi also underlined that due to the start of the tourist season, the acceleration of the works has been requested.
"Why have we asked the contractors to speed up the pace? Because you are at the beginning of the tourist season and this road is one of the roads with the most usable access, here we are with the connection of the northern capital, but also with the connection of Shkodra and Albania to the two borders of Montenegro. And as such, we have asked the contractors to speed up their pace, and by May 7, the part up to the roundabout that needs to go through the expropriation process again, to continue with the paving of asphalt and its complete carpeting, so that during the summer season we at least have a relief from traffic and we will take measures to build a very good traffic plan together with the police so that we have a more satisfactory and better situation than in previous years in terms of regulating this traffic. And the contractors have undertaken the commitment that by May 7, in addition to the part of the roundabout that also requires the expropriation process "The expropriation, which will proceed, will pave both segments of the road with asphalt," said Karakaçi.
The Albanian Road Authority is in communication regarding the relevant expropriations so as not to hinder the finalization of this project.
