Energy production from floating TPPs/ KESH aims to purchase 15 thousand tons of fuel, opens tender
The Albanian Power Corporation will purchase 15 thousand tons of fuel, which will serve for the production of energy from the 2 floating TECs, located in Vlora. This department has opened the tender, while the accompanying documents provide the technical specifications for the fuel and the required quantity. According to these specifications, the estimated consumption of fuel for 1 mWh is about 229 kg, which means that the amount of fuel intended to be purchased will serve for the production of a total of about 65,500 mWh of energy.
The purchase of this quantity is justified by the need to ensure a fuel storage capacity in order to ensure the continuity of fuel supply at the place of use and production from the thermal asset. This is because the floating assets have fuel management and storage capacities in a total of about 1 thousand tons of fuel.
It is also determined that for operational purposes, thermal assets require the supply of HFO fuel, with a sulfur content of no more than 0.5%. This fuel required for supply is a material that is not produced or easily found within the country, due to the specified amount of sulfur.
The floating TPPs were positioned in the Port of Triport in September 2022, following a procedure undertaken in the context of the energy crisis, but their production began in 2024.
