State Police uncovers online fraud scheme

The State Police informs citizens that an online fraud scheme has been detected, where unidentified perpetrators have created fake websites, similar to the official website of the State Police, with the aim of illegal financial gain.
These pages are distributed through SMS messages and disguised email addresses, falsely presenting themselves as notifications sent by state authorities, regarding the payment of fines for road traffic violations, mainly for speeding.
The State Police explains that these messages were not sent by state institutions. "The perpetrators have used sophisticated techniques to deceive citizens and direct them to fake pages, where they are asked to enter their bank details. The purpose of this scheme is to steal bank details and then embezzle funds from citizens' accounts," the State Police emphasizes.
The State Police calls for maximum caution:
* Do not click on suspicious links received via SMS or other platforms.
* Never enter your banking details on unverified sites.
* Verify any fines only through official channels.
Citizens can check fines on the official e-Albania portal:
https://e-albania.al/eAlbaniaServices/UseService.aspx?service_code=879
If you have entered your bank details on suspicious pages:
* Contact your bank immediately to block the card/account and take appropriate measures, as well as report the cases to the State Police.
Law enforcement structures are working to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.
