"Total energy independence by 2028" - Rama, in Abu Dhabi: The submarine cable project with Italy supplies Europe
Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the Sustainable Development Week Summit panel, an event held in Abu Dhabi under the auspices of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During his speech, Prime Minister Rama focused on investments in the energy sector in Albania.
"We have hydropower and we are 100% renewable. We have no fossil fuel energy. Here we are at the highest level of ranking in this new world. What we have done in this decade is invest in solar and wind energy and create a balanced portfolio of resources so that we do not need to rely on imports and are sovereign."
The plan is going well and we believe that by the end of 2028 we will be fully sovereign. We have a strategic cooperation and I want to say that this has happened thanks to this country and thanks to your great leader who has a vision of humanity that goes beyond borders. Our ambition is that together with the United Arab Emirates and the Italians we have a three-party cooperation to create a load base in Albania. Doctor Sultan is aiming to reach 3 giga and through the interconnector cable with Italy, to serve Europe with green energy and of course together with our Arab friends to make money " , said Rama.
The Prime Minister also focused on the developments in artificial intelligence in Albania, which, according to him, is helping to transform EU legislation, whereas previously, countries had to have an "army" of translators.
"95% of our services are offered online. You no longer have a physical office, there are no queues, you get the service online, whether in Albania or outside Albania. With artificial intelligence, we are using it for the entire process of transforming EU legislation. To enter the EU, you have to approve every law. For all countries, it has been an extraordinary job with translators, with artificial intelligence, we are doing it very quickly. We have a minister of artificial intelligence. She works for services and is working on the transformation of the EU legal corpus and is working on public procurement with artificial intelligence, to remove people from the process", Rama emphasized.
