Spitalla solar park, in operation by 2027/ The second largest power plant in the country, ERE imposes a condition on the production license

The Spitalla photovoltaic park should start production within 2027. The condition for the second largest photovoltaic project in the country has been set by the Energy Regulatory Authority, thus linking licensing to the progress of this project, which is considered one of the most important energy investments in recent years.
Also, according to the ERE decision, "Spitalla Solar" must submit the agreement signed with the Transmission System Operator, which determines the point of connection of the park to the grid, before the production phase.
The Spitalla photovoltaic park was announced as the winner in the 2021 auction as a 100 MW project, while in the licensing phase the ERE has approved the installed capacity of 90 MW. The offered price of 29.89 euros/mWh was considered extremely favorable, with 70 MW to be purchased by the state for 15 years and 30 MW to be traded on the free market. In these conditions, the reduced capacity to 90 MW seems to bring changes in the division between the amount of energy purchased by the state and that which the company will trade on the free market.
The entry into production of this energy project will be an important step towards diversifying energy production sources, due to our country's dependence on water. Currently, only 6% of the total energy in the country is generated by the sun, while the rest is produced by the Drini Cascade hydropower plants and private and concessionary HPPs.
