"Nickel in peaches originating from Albania" - Croatia blocks and destroys over 5500 kg of product!
The National Food Authority announces that on 22.08.2025, Albania has been notified by the RASFF System, in the category Notification for border rejection with reference number 2025.6367 with the subject: "Nickel in peaches originating from Albania", notified by Croatia.
From the analyses conducted in the Croatian state, the presence of Nickel above the permitted norm was determined.
Immediately after receiving the notification, the case was passed on to the structures of the AKU Fier Regional Directorate for follow-up.
According to the information, an inspection was carried out at the exporting OBU, which resulted in there being no stock of the product in its warehouses.
The entity has a traceability system, where it was verified that the product was all sent for export and was not distributed on the domestic market.
The quantity of 5562 kg of peaches was sent to Croatia, where they were destroyed after the results of the laboratory analysis. The case was also referred to the AKVMB for further measures.
