The National Waste Management Agency is established/Joint stock company with 100% state capital, service against payment
Albania will have a special Agency for waste management, with the aim of generating revenue from it.
The decision published in the Official Gazette and now in force, determines that the National Agency for Waste Management jsc, with the abbreviated name "AKEM" jsc, is a joint-stock company with 100% state capital, established with the aim of fulfilling the objectives set out in the law "On integrated waste management".
The public authority, representing the state as the owner of 100% of the shares of the joint-stock company, is the ministry responsible for the environment.
Referring to the decision, the National Waste Management Agency JSC offers, for a fee, the final waste treatment service and any other service, in accordance with the purpose of its establishment and its statute.
The initial capital for the establishment of the Agency is 20 million lek and the Ministry of Environment, within 30 days from the entry into force of this decision, shall follow the necessary legal procedures for: the establishment and approval of the statute of the joint-stock company and the registration of the National Agency for Waste Management JSC at the National Business Center.
The governing bodies of the National Agency for Waste Management sh.a., according to the provisions of the General Assembly of Shareholders; Supervisory Council; Administrator. The Supervisory Council has 5 members, appointed by the General Assembly of Shareholders, of which 2 representatives from the ministry responsible for the environment; one representative from the ministry responsible for finance; one representative from the ministry responsible for local government; one representative from the ministry responsible for the economy.
The financing sources of the company "AKEM" sh.a. are in accordance with the provisions of the law "On integrated waste management".
