New territorial division, Prime Minister Rama meets 20 socialist mayors in Kuç, Vlora
Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting today with 20 socialist mayors to discuss the new territorial reform. The meeting, which was held in Kuç, Vlora, lasted over four hours. The discussions included mayors at the regional level as well as mayors affected by the reduction in the number of local units.
According to the majority's proposal, 15 municipalities in the country would be merged, bringing the number of municipalities to 46. Meanwhile, the alternative proposal made by the DP brings a variant with 100 municipalities.
It is learned that during the meeting there were various discussions on the reform and the proposed changes to the map of municipalities. The mayors of the municipalities that are expected to not be part of the new map presented their opinions and positions, arguing the reasons why the municipalities they lead should continue to exist. The meeting also discussed the arguments in favor of the proposed mergers. The discussions were held with all the mayors present.
