Thousands of jobs from energy and efficiency - Document/ Need for 12 thousand full-time employees by 2030

The implementation of climate change mitigation policies is expected to bring significant economic and social benefits, focusing mainly on energy efficiency and the development of renewable sources. According to the draft National Determined Contribution, issued for public consultation by the Ministry of Environment, one of the most direct effects is related to the reduction of costs for households, through investments in thermal insulation of buildings and more efficient equipment. These measures aim to reduce energy bills and address energy poverty, especially for low-income groups.
At the same time, increased investments in clean energy and efficiency are expected to translate into increased employment and public revenues, while energy expenditures in the state budget could be gradually reduced.
A special focus is placed on creating new jobs. Building renovation programs and renewable energy development are expected to generate thousands of “green” jobs in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, and maintenance.
According to the scenarios envisaged in the document, investments in renewable energy and efficiency could create up to 12,000 full-time jobs by 2030. Meanwhile, the expansion of photovoltaic capacities is expected to add around 3,000 additional jobs during the installation and operation phases.
According to the document, in the initial stages, reforms may require fiscal support from the state, through subsidies or incentive schemes. But in the longer term, these investments are expected to be balanced by increased revenues and savings in public spending.
