Law for “Made in Albania”? - Musabelliu: Draft ready, mechanisms to promote exports
Albanian products and services are expected to have a special legal framework. The Ministry of Economy and Innovation is working on drafting the "Made in Albania" law, which aims to support and protect domestic production, but also to create mechanisms to promote exports.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation, Enkelejd Musabelliu, told Scan TV that the draft is in the final stages and is expected to be presented for public consultation within this year.
"We have also had a commitment to a special law for "Made in Albania" products and services, and we will come out very soon with a first draft of this law within this year to present it to the public. We have conducted a series of hearings with various interest groups, ranging from industrial goods producers, to service providers and artisans, and so on, to see their needs and how we can build legislation to support domestic products. In fact, we are almost ready, let's say, we are in the final stages of presenting this draft to the public, but it will be a special law that will aim to support domestic production, protect domestic production, but at the same time also provide mechanisms to encourage the export of domestic production, whether these are goods or services."
In parallel with the drafting of the new legal framework, a national program is also being prepared to prepare Albanian businesses for the European market.
The program will begin implementation in January next year and will focus on informing enterprises, increasing capacities and strengthening competitiveness.
"We are collaborating with a number of donors who are present in Albania today to finalize this program. This program will begin its implementation in January of next year and will have three main pillars: the first pillar, informing and raising awareness of all Albanian businesses regarding operations in the European Union market. The second pillar, increasing capacities. The third component, increasing the competitiveness of entrepreneurship, which means schemes and support for the certification and standardization of Albanian products or services."
