AAPSK Chief Administrator, visit to social enterprise in Fier: We will further expand such initiatives
The Chief Administrator of the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered and Confiscated Assets, Risena Xhaja, today visited the "Ke Buono" pastry shop in Fier, a social enterprise established on a property confiscated from criminal activities.
Ms. Xhaja stated that AAPSK is intensifying efforts and collaborations with international partners and local organizations to expand similar initiatives, returning seized and confiscated assets to the community.
"This business, inaugurated in 2018, was among the first to be part of a successful project to put the assets of organized crime at the service of the community, and in particular the vulnerable groups. AAPSK has recently increased its efforts and collaborations to further expand such initiatives, in order to socially reuse seized and confiscated assets in the service of the community," declared Xhaja.
The social pastry shop “Ke Buono” is the first initiative of its kind in Albania and the Western Balkans. It provides employment and support to people in need – young people at risk of involvement in crime, individuals serving probation, as well as women victims of violence or divorced women – helping them regain their dignity and integrate into society.
This model is seen as a concrete step towards the social reuse of confiscated assets and as a way to strengthen citizens' confidence that assets obtained from crime can be returned to society.
