South Korea leads vehicle imports in Albania/ January-April, almost 50% of new cars registered are electric

The General Directorate of Road Transport Services has published data on the countries of origin of vehicles registered in Albania.
According to the DPSHTRR, for the period January-April 2026, the Republic of Korea ranks first in terms of the number of vehicles registered in the country, accounting for 24.1% of the total. It is followed by China with 18.3%, while Germany holds third place with 12.4% of the total registered vehicles.
Italy is next with 11.9%, while the United States represents 7.6% of the total. Switzerland also ranks on the list of leading countries with 7.1%.
The data also shows an increase in interest from citizens in electric vehicles in the Albanian market.
According to the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, during the first four months of 2026, 4,155 "All-Electric" vehicles were registered for the first time, marking an increase of 225% compared to the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, the data shows an increase in vehicles with Km 0, where 49.6% of vehicles with Km 0 registered in January-April 2026 are "All-Electric", or 102% more compared to last year.
This demonstrates the increasing interest of citizens in ecological vehicles, lower operating costs. The figures confirm that the Albanian market is increasingly oriented towards electric vehicles, reflecting global trends for cleaner and more efficient transportation.
