Increased controls on alcoholic beverages - Customs punishes entity in Berat with 45.7 million lek in duties

The Customs Administration has increased controls for compliance with legal obligations by entities that produce and trade in excise goods, mainly alcoholic beverages.
The controls focused on verifying the readability of fiscal stamps placed on finished products in the fiscal warehouses of the entities, on checking the stock status of the fiscal stamps of the operators, as well as on the complete inventory of excise goods (raw materials, finished products and intermediate products) in their warehouses. In addition, control was exercised over the premises for keeping products with paid excise duty and those with suspended excise duty.
At the end of the inspections at an operator, the Berat Customs Branch has found various violations, declaring the subject a debtor in the amount of 45.7 million lek. Of this amount, the obligation constitutes 8.7 million lek, while the penalties amount to 37 million lek.
The Customs Administration remains committed to continuing controls in order to ensure compliance with the obligations arising from the law "On Excise Duties" for all economic operators.
