"Not only military power, but also digital" - NATO Conference in Tirana, Rutte: We will create the Integrated Cyber Center in Belgium
On November 9-10, Albania will host the 3rd NATO Cyber Defense Conference, where leaders, experts and senior representatives from Alliance member and partner countries will exchange knowledge, strengthen cooperation and build strategies aimed at collective defense in the face of ever-changing threats in cyberspace.
Igli Tafa, Director General of the National Cyber Security Authority, stated that cyber security is one of the most important challenges of our era. In recent years, it has become clear that cyber defense is not something separate from the defense of a country. We have focused on various cyber defense exercises.

When we talk about technology and resilience, in modern conflict we are not only talking about military power, but also digital power, and that is how we can empower ourselves and compete. We need to think about what we need to win the war. For cyber defense, we need to first urgently invest in cyber defense, more funds to protect our critical infrastructure. Second, we need to support our national defenders. We need to cooperate more with industry. NATO's Integrated Cyber Center will be very important. Third, we need to adopt the right approach to cyber defense.
In the future there are 3 challenges, we need to have a clearer vision among us for defense and have planning cycles. The second challenge is procurement, they are very long like for aircraft that we need to use for software. If we are going to fall behind it means that others are moving ahead. Challenge 3, we need to improve the accreditation framework, we need to have the political will to use innovation in battle, with artificial intelligence and the right standards.
