Italy "conquers" Albania with investments - Real estate, the most attractive sector with 149 million euros in the second quarter
Italy has returned as the largest investor in Albania during the second quarter of this year, with 44 million euros, dethroning Turkey, which recorded a record of 50 million euros in investments in the first quarter.
In total, about 759 million euros of foreign investments are estimated in the first half of this year.
Despite the fact that Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Austria are the countries that historically lead in terms of investment value in Albania, they have shown a slight decrease, while the countries that have actually had the highest growth in investment in Albania are the United States of America and Kosovo.
But in which sectors do they invest the most?
With 149 million euros, real estate continues to attract foreign investment. This sector absorbs 37% of all foreign investments in the country, followed by financial and insurance activities with 18% or 72 million euros, the extractive industry with 11.8% or 47 million euros, wholesale and retail trade, repair of vehicles and motorcycles with 33 million euros or 8% of the total and in fifth place electricity, gas and water with 31 million euros or in other words 7.8% of investments.
In the first half of this year, education, other service activities, agriculture, forestry and fishing, transportation and storage, health and social work activities, arts, entertainment and recreation resulted in zero or almost zero investments.
Recently, at the "New Horizons" Conference held in Vienna, Prime Minister Rama called on Austrians to invest in Albania in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, tourism and technology.
