Businesses benefit from compensation for contributions after the minimum wage increase

The Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, announced that the government has undertaken a support scheme for business, through financial compensation for social and health insurance contributions, as a result of the increase in the minimum wage.
According to her, this measure aims to alleviate additional costs for employers who have low-wage employees, following the decision to increase the minimum wage to 50 thousand lekë starting from January 2026.
The compensation will be available to employees who in September 2025 had a gross salary of 40,000 to 49,999 lek, while the financial support will cover part of the contributions paid on top of the salary difference.
The compensation period is set from January to September 2026, while the benefit is also conditioned on the business maintaining the number of employees.
Minister Ibrahimaj emphasized that the application for this scheme is carried out online through the e-Albania platform, through the service "Request for financial compensation of social and health insurance contributions".
Also, the list of beneficiary businesses has been published on the official employment portal, enabling transparency and full access for interested entities.
This initiative is part of the policy package aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and formalizing the labor market, while cushioning the effects of the minimum wage increase on the economy.
