What are the business demands for the government? - Jaka: VAT on food 7%, tax

The enterprise requires a series of fiscal incentives that would make it competitive and significantly reduce costs. During the hearing in the Economy Committee, the Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tirana, Nikolin Jaka, suggested reducing the VAT on the food basket to 5-7%, exemption from customs tariffs for raw materials of the agri-food industry, as well as a subsidy per liter for milk production.

"Revise the VAT for the agri-food industry, we should not do anything more. VAT for basket products should be no more than 5-7% and this is a higher rate than the countries in the region and equal only to Serbia. Make VAT for fertilizers zero, exempt from VAT the import of machinery used for the manufacturing industry. We have requested exemption from customs tariffs for raw materials used in the agri-food industry. Reimbursement of excise duty for gas and fuels. Fiscal and financial support in compliance with EU standards. For every liter of milk, there should be a direct subsidy for the farmer. The VAT threshold of 10 million lekë means that most products are sold without VAT."

Regarding the fiscal peace package, Jaka emphasized that care must be taken with its implementation so as not to discourage honest entrepreneurship.

"Fiscal peace is welcome. Private enterprise should also have its own renaissance so that we can have an equal footing in the form of partnership and understanding. Let's see how it will be implemented, so that we do not discourage the honest part of private enterprise. We should not give the impression that we will have fiscal amnesty often."

Regarding the real estate revaluation process, Jaka emphasized that registered and mortgaged properties should be included, because, according to him, sales have been blocked while this process is pending. On the other hand, it is suggested to review the tax on the sale of real estate, which is currently at 15%.
