New power plants produced 2.43% of energy - ERE: 262 MW of capacity was added in

Around 262 MW of new capacity from renewable sources has been added to the Albanian electricity system during 2025, with solar energy clearly dominating, according to data from the Energy Regulatory Authority's annual report.

Data shows that during the past year, a total of 21 new plants have entered production, of which 13 are photovoltaic plants and 8 are hydropower plants. In total, the added installed capacity amounts to 262 MW, of which 181.98 MW belongs to solar energy and 80.02 MW to hydropower sources.

In terms of production, these plants generated around 182,031 MWh of electricity during 2025, accounting for approximately 2.43% of the total annual energy production in the country.

Within the photovoltaic sector, the largest contribution is made by the “Sunny Side Energy” power plant, with a production of around 48,919 MWh, followed by “SPV Blue 2” with over 30 thousand MWh. In total, new solar power plants have produced around 89,560 MWh during the year, confirming the rapid growth of this segment in the Albanian energy market.

Meanwhile, in the hydropower sector, the total production from new plants reaches around 92,471 MWh. The main contribution is made by the hydropower plants "Egantia Hydropower" and "MC Energji Gojan", with over 42 thousand MWh and 32 thousand MWh respectively, still maintaining a significant share in domestic production.

The ERE report also highlights that the total installed power in the transmission system for 2025 has reached around 2,905 MW, while the total electricity production in the country is around 6.4 million MWh.
