Policymakers, farmers and entrepreneurs of rural Albania gathered today in Cërrik, as part of a two-day dialogue table on agriculture and rural development, part of efforts for integration into the European Union.

This activity was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, other cabinet ministers, MPs, as well as local government leaders.

The purpose of this meeting is to listen to the issues and ideas of actors operating in the field of agriculture, as well as to build a new bridge of cooperation to strengthen the sector in function of the "Albania 2030" vision and the country's membership process in the European Union.

In her speech, the Minister focused on the achievements of the sector over the last decade.

"We have achieved a lot together, tripling the area cultivated in greenhouses, quintupling agricultural exports to over 80 international markets, increasing financial support for the sector, as well as investments in infrastructure, technology and food security ," said Denaj.

Minister Denaj described these two days as an important opportunity to share ideas and discuss the challenges of the present and the future, with the aim of building a modern, competitive and European agriculture.

"As policymakers, academics and businesses, we have a common objective: a modern, competitive agricultural business within the European family. Two days are important for your business, and I am convinced that you have left behind with your worries some of the problems you face every day, but we thought that these two days are very important for this conversation, between the three main leaders in policymaking, the academics who have joined us and you as representatives, to help us in this very important process", she emphasized.

The two-day roundtable will continue with comprehensive discussions and division into thematic working groups. The conclusions and recommendations from each group will be presented during the second day of the event, on July 3, 2025.
