"European Union, guarantee for Albania" - Europe Day, Rama and Gonzato

Albania is closer to the European Union through the reforms it is undertaking and their implementation. On Europe Day, the EU Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, emphasized that Europe is everyone's project and that fulfilling commitments and transparency are very important.

"I am deeply convinced that the transformative power of the European project has the capacity to achieve this goal. We have a clear methodology and there can be no shortcuts to membership or evasion of criteria. And I am here to ensure that the country delivers. The challenge is not only to maintain consistency in adopting the necessary reforms but also to guarantee quality, proper implementation and for this there must be transparency. Integration is a national project and for this we need to raise the awareness of citizens so that they demand accountability."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that the European Union is a guarantee and that we are now very close to membership in the great European family.

"The European Union and being part of it is a guarantee. Many people paint the European Union as an obstacle, but nothing could be further from the truth and it could not have been more wrong because the European Union guarantees the perimeter of the rule of law and the rule of law cannot be negotiated. On this day of Europe, on this day that celebrates Europe as the cradle of cultures and wills, I want to strongly emphasize that Albanians are on their best day but at the same time they are today at a time when the blessing of being close to a united Europe is a guarantee of being on a path of no return. Of course, this path has its ups and downs, but it is a path of no return. The EU is already a peak that can be seen with the eyes and we are taking the last steps to finally anchor ourselves where we have the country and where the Albanian renascentists who have left the trust that the sun for us begins where it sets have seen Albania."

A message was also shared by the President of the European Council, António Costa, to the citizens of Albania on Europe Day.

“We believe that your future lies in the European Union. A great deal of work is being done to make this a reality. Albania has made considerable progress with the negotiations over the past year. I encourage you to continue the momentum of reforms. Together we will build a common European future. Long live Europe.”

On Europe Day, messages were also shared by the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, who wrote that Albania is today closer than ever to being part of the European family, ready to add its energy and values to the European project, as well as the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, who stated that Albania remains strongly committed to its European path.
