Prime Minister Edi Rama, together with the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, conducted an inspection at the Kuçova air base, which is becoming a strategic asset of NATO, thanks to investments in infrastructure, modernization and training. The Minister of Defense, Pirro Vëngu, emphasized that this center is available for any task assigned to it by other law enforcement agencies.
They are also conducting the first firings so that they can be mobilized. The work on the training center has been completed. The center is monitored 24 hours a day, they are available for any task assigned to them. It is necessary to have a center like this with laboratories, classrooms. We are rehabilitating the former officers' house again so that they can stay as comfortably as possible together with their families.
Modernizing the Air Force, including the fleet of combat drones, which now also serve civilian missions, remains a key priority for national security.
Meanwhile, Albania has significantly increased investments in the defense sector, where for the first time this year funds reaching 2.01% of Gross Domestic Product have been allocated, and 54.8% of the Ministry of Defense budget for 2025 goes to modernization and increased operational readiness.
Investments are in several directions; in the renovation of military bases, the construction of new bases, investments in technology and especially investments in human resources.
