Albpetrol is committed to the rehabilitation of pollution in the Gorisht-Kocul oil-bearing area!
Albpetrol has decided to clean up the oilfield in Gorisht-Kocul. The company emphasizes that this commitment has become even more necessary due to the situation inherited from decades of uncontrolled activities in the oilfield, especially in the field that has been active for more than 60 years.
According to the official statement, during this period, significant amounts of industrial waste have been generated, which until a few years ago were not treated according to modern standards.
Albpetrol states that a clear plan of measures for environmental rehabilitation is currently being implemented, in accordance with technical protocols and financial possibilities, to guarantee a sustainable cleanup of the area.
The company emphasizes that there is no longer any new polluting activity in the area, while current operations respect the technical manuals and environmental standards in force. Meanwhile, the amount of inherited waste is progressively decreasing every year, which is also documented by the relevant inspections and reports.
Regarding the leakage of waste during hot periods, Albpetrol explained that this is a phenomenon that is activated only during the summer due to high temperatures, while during the rest of the year there is no leakage. This, according to the company, can be easily confirmed by environmental experts and previous media reports.
In conclusion, Albpetrol guarantees that it will continue with dedication the work for the rehabilitation of the area and the protection of national natural assets, with a special focus on the Vjosa River area, which is related to the mentioned source.
