250 million lek compensation for fuel/public transport, deadline for applications until August 1

Urban, suburban and intercity transport companies benefit from financial compensation of 50 lek per liter of fuel for consumption during the period March-May 2026.
The General Directorate of Taxes announced that the measure is implemented in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers and aims to support public transport operators in meeting the costs of the activity.
According to this Saturday's announcement, the total value of the fund foreseen for this support scheme reaches 250 million lek.
The General Directorate of Taxes called on all companies that meet the established criteria to apply within the legal deadlines to benefit from financial compensation.
Beneficiaries must submit their applications to the relevant Regional Tax Directorates. The deadline for submitting applications is August 1, 2026.
Meanwhile, May 30 is the last day of the obligation to install POS in the public transport service sector, where an extension has been requested. For urban and interurban public transport associations, the issue of cost sharing for the banking commission that will increase the ticket price by 30 lek if paid by bank card remains unclear.
