Regional Energy Coordination, OST signs cooperation agreement with SEleNe CC in Thessaloniki

The Transmission System Operator, OST, has signed in Thessaloniki a cooperation agreement with SEleNe CC, which is the Regional Coordination Center (RCC) for EU TSOs in Southeastern Europe in accordance with European Commission Regulations.
According to the announcement made by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy on its social networks, the agreement focuses on:
operational coordination at regional level
power system security assessment
supporting the OST operational processes
approximation with EU standards and directives in the energy transmission sector
According to the announcement, this agreement is an important step towards strengthening regional cooperation and increasing the reliability of the electricity grid.
SEleNe CC was established on 22 May 2020 as a Regional Security Coordinator (RSC) by the power transmission networks of Bulgaria (ESO-EAD), Greece (IPTO), Italy (Terna) and Romania (Transelectrica). From July 2022, SEleNe CC has been transformed into a Regional Coordination Centre (RCC) according to Regulation 943/2019 of the European Commission. SEleNe CC is located in Thessaloniki and has simultaneously established a branch (Esperia) located in Rome that deals with 6 bidding zones within Italy.
