Kosovo's new government is formed - Prime Minister Kurti: The average salary in the public sector will be 1,000 euros

Following the constitution of the X Legislature with Speaker Albulena Haxhiu, the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo yesterday evening voted with 66 votes in favor and 49 against the new government of Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
During his speech, Kurti focused on some of the priorities of this mandate, such as justice reform, the fight against corruption, and economic reforms.
"We have increased employment from 350 thousand employees to 430 thousand employees, with a focus on youth and women, and we have achieved that family income by raising the minimum wage, pensions, child allowances, but also salaries in the public sector, which during this mandate that we are now concluding have marked an average increase of 47%. This increase will continue in the coming mandate, in line with the increase in the budget and economic performance, by raising the average salary in the public sector to over 1,000 euros per month. We have not kept economic growth in the state but have distributed it to the population by increasing social welfare. Child allowances today are 30 to 45 euros for each child, while in the next mandate we will double them. So, from 0 as we found them to 45, and in the next mandate from 45 to 90 euros per child for families with three or more children. With this increase, we will leave behind several countries of the European Union regarding child allowances. Also, we will increase the allowances for new mothers, mothers, to 500 euros per month for 6 months."
At the end of his speech, Kurti also announced the composition of the government cabinet, which consists of 20 ministers. Glauk Konjufca is the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla - Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Hekuran Murati - Minister of Finance, Ejup Maqedonci - Minister of Defense and Xhelal Sveçla - Minister of Internal Affairs. Meanwhile, the first meeting of the new government was held today.
